“ Took a trip to blackness castle a few weeks ago with my partner and stopped in here for some lunch after a recommendation from a friend. Absolutely lovely place, was nice and quiet, tables were well spaced out, service was very quick, friendly and attentive. The main two selling points were the decor, very quirky with a nautical theme with lots to look at and discuss over a meal and the food itself. Unfortunately neither my partner nor I are big on seafood which is this place's speciality but I had the macaroni and my partner had a burger and both were excellent, very generous portions, obviously freshly made with high quality ingredients, would definitely recommend if you are in the area. While we were there it was quite a wet miserable day so we sat inside but it has a lovely exterior seating section out the back which would be fantastic on a hot day (rare in Scotland though they be) ”
“ Took relatives for lunch and they live near here so first time for me, they’ve been many times. Absolutely amazing haddock and chips. Very old school restaurant near the sea. Like a proper step back in time. Parking isn’t the easiest but we got a space as you drive towards the castle and walked back, very short distance. Overall the food was excellent but I have 2 tiny gripes. I prefer mushy peas. And they served the excellent apple pie cold. No offer to have it warm as I prefer. But we later discovered the server, bless him, was his first shift and he probably just forgot. Not the end of the world though as that pie was delicious. I’m giving the restaurant full 5 stars because it genuinely was a pleasure. Top tip is book beforehand. We did and it was a good job as the place was rammed busy. ”

The meat was sweet, succulent, and complemented beautifully by thick-cut, golden chips. The accompanying side salad was fresh and lightly dressed, with lemon wedges and a playful drizzle of balsamic glaze that added a subtle zing. It felt indulgent yet balanced. Thoughtfully, lobster tools and even a lemon-scented wet wipe were provided—excellent attention to detail. Seafood Sandwich (served 12–3 PM): This was a generous filling of prawns, crayfish, and smoked salmon in a creamy Marie Rose sauce between slices of hearty brown bread. The flavours were rich and satisfying without being too heavy. It was paired with the same thick chips and a crisp salad—excellent value for money at just 12.95. Ambience & Service: The interior is warm and inviting, with attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed a glass of red wine and cider alongside the meal, which paired wonderfully with the seafood. Verdict: The Lobster Pot excels at delivering quality shellfish and coastal classics with finesse. The prices reflect the freshness and portion size, and both the lobster and sandwich dishes left us impressed. A perfect stop for seafood lovers wanting quality and comfort. ”
“ A brilliant place with lively staff, amazing decor, and delicious food, reasonably priced with huge portions and very fresh. Definitely worth a visit. It is quirky, fun, clever, and worth every penny.all art is original from the owner, and every time I looked around, I saw something new. I feel like I'd see something new every time I visit for the next 19 years! Highly recommended! ”
“ What a shining (in the middle of village) gem! Bright burnt orange painted cottage. Opens at midday and serve the most fresh, delicious, fragrant and enjoyable food possible. I had a soup of the day ( lentil ) with freshly baked roll. Soup.was perfectly seasoned, nicely coarsed blended with right amount of garlic in the background. Spot on. Followed by absolutely delicious and freshest Prawn, crayfish, smoked salmon sandwich with perfectly cooked, fluffy inside yet slightly crunchy outside, homemade chips and well dressed side salad. Fresh ingredients at its best. Fabulous decor full of maritime and local memorabilia. Quirky place with a true soul. Staff members attentive, helpful and welcoming. Shame it's 400 miles from where I live! MUST VISIT PLACE. Thanks guys ”
